Xiaomi has officially announced the launch of its new automotive brand Sky Nomad (Chinese name Xiaomi Pengcheng), which will focus on spacious family vehicles equipped with Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) technology.
Alongside the announcement, the company launched the brand's official WeChat page and began a large-scale marketing campaign across major Chinese cities. The first model under the new brand will be the full-size Sky Nomad N90 SUV.
The N90 will feature an EREV powertrain, where a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine functions solely as a generator to recharge the battery and supply electricity to the electric motors rather than driving the wheels directly. This configuration combines the smooth driving experience of an EV with significantly extended driving range.
According to preliminary information, the SUV will measure approximately 5.3 meters in length and feature a 3.1-meter wheelbase. Customers will be able to choose between five- and seven-seat layouts, while a more luxurious five-seat version may also be introduced.
The exterior design will feature a bold SUV profile with a high hood line, large LED lighting units, a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor for advanced driver assistance systems, and powered retractable side steps.
The launch of Sky Nomad marks another important milestone for Xiaomi's automotive division. Following the successful debut of the SU7 electric sedan in 2024, the company expanded its lineup with the SU7 Ultra performance sedan and the YU7 crossover. The new N90 now positions Xiaomi in the rapidly growing segment of large extended-range hybrid SUVs.
