GEELY Introduces Revolutionary Thunder 16-in-1 Electric Drive System with Record 93.8% Efficiency

20 Jul 2026

GEELY has officially unveiled its new Thunder 16-in-1 intelligent electric drive system, becoming the world's first production-ready solution with such a high level of integration. Developed by INFIMOTION, a subsidiary of GEELY Holding Group, the new technology sets a new benchmark for electric vehicle powertrain efficiency.

According to GEELY, the system achieves an overall efficiency of 93.8%, the highest figure among mass-produced electric drive systems.

Industry-Leading Integration

The Thunder platform combines 16 functions into a single compact unit, integrating 12 hardware components and four intelligent software systems responsible for energy management, charging optimization, vehicle dynamics, and continuous system monitoring.

This architecture eliminates more than 180 individual parts, delivers a power density of 11.8 kW/kg, and reduces the total weight to just 75 kg, approximately 15% lighter than comparable systems.

A magnesium-alloy housing and integrated motor-transmission structure also reduce high-voltage wiring by 30% and low-voltage wiring by 15%, while freeing up around 28 liters of additional luggage space.

Higher Performance and Lower Energy Consumption

Built on an 800-volt architecture, the system features One-Chip technology that cuts control latency from 40 milliseconds to only 2 milliseconds.

During testing around Qinghai Lake, the vehicle achieved an impressive energy consumption of only 8.2 kWh/100 km, while its official CLTC-certified consumption stands at 10.7 kWh/100 km.

AI-powered thermal management also improves cold-weather efficiency. At −18°C, the system can recover thermal energy equivalent to approximately 7 kWh, reducing cabin heating energy consumption by more than 40%.

First Application in the GEELY GALAXY TT

The new Thunder drive system makes its debut in the all-electric GEELY GALAXY TT sports sedan.

The model is available with either a 245 kW (329 hp) rear-wheel-drive system or a 425 kW (570 hp) all-wheel-drive version capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds.

Battery options of 52.4, 63.8, and 75.2 kWh provide a CLTC driving range between 540 and 725 km, depending on the configuration.
