The FAW-Volkswagen joint venture has expanded its “Dual Lifetime Warranty” program across its entire model range. Starting from August 1, the extended warranty coverage applies not only to SUVs, but also to gasoline-powered passenger cars and plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs).
Previously, the program was mainly available for gasoline-powered SUVs. FAW-Volkswagen has now significantly expanded the initiative to include additional vehicle categories.
Two Lifetime Warranty Programs
The initiative includes two separate lifetime warranty benefits: lifetime coverage for the vehicle itself and lifetime coverage for original components.
The warranty covers a range of key vehicle systems and components, including the body, chassis, electrical systems, engine, transmission, generator, air-conditioning compressor and other important parts.
The program also applies to genuine replacement parts installed or replaced by authorized dealers.
If a covered malfunction occurs through no fault of the vehicle owner, the necessary repair or replacement will be carried out free of charge.
No Mileage or Time Limits
One of the key advantages of the program is the absence of mileage and ownership-period limits. Customers are also not required to pay an additional fee for the lifetime warranty, as the program is included directly in the vehicle purchase agreement.
However, the warranty program is valid only within mainland China.
Conditions for Maintaining Lifetime Coverage
To remain eligible for the lifetime warranty, owners must comply with several requirements:
- the customer must be the vehicle's first registered owner;
- the vehicle must be used for personal rather than commercial purposes;
- scheduled maintenance must be carried out by authorized dealers in accordance with the manufacturer's requirements;
- only genuine parts must be used for repairs and replacements.
The program covers gasoline-powered sedans, SUVs and plug-in hybrid vehicles. Fully electric models are currently not included.
By expanding its Dual Lifetime Warranty program, FAW-Volkswagen is strengthening its position in China's highly competitive automotive market. The company is seeking to increase customer confidence in its vehicles while helping owners reduce potential long-term maintenance and repair costs.
